Description
The Old Royal Public House is a late 19th-century building located on Church Street in the City Centre. It features a design that is reminiscent of the Loire style, constructed from purple brick and terracotta. The building stands three storeys high and has two and a half bays, along with a corner entrance bay topped by a conical roof that has been altered, complete with a lively weathervane. To the right, there are three and a half additional bays facing Cornwall Street. The bays are separated by pilasters.
The ground floor has arched openings, while the first floor includes plain rectangular casements and shallow canted bay windows with arched lights, each supported by balconies. The second floor mirrors the first with plain casements, and beneath the steep Dutch gables, there are pairs of arched windows. The exterior is richly decorated with garlands, foliage, and cartouches, adding to its visual appeal.
