Description
No. 158 Edmund Street is a Grade II listed building from 1891, located in the City Centre of Birmingham. It is constructed of brick and stone and stands three storeys tall, featuring three bays along Edmund Street and an additional six bays around the corner into Church Street, arranged in a rhythm of three sets of three. The bays on the ground floor are separated by brick pilasters, while the upper storeys are distinguished by a giant order of Corinthian columns.
The ground floor showcases banded rustication and arched windows adorned with keystones that feature masks. The first-floor windows are decorated with blind balconies and elaborate heads, while the second-floor windows are framed by eared moulded surrounds. A heavy cornice with brackets and rosettes runs along the eaves, topped by a blocking course. The entrance, located at the corner, is framed by a pedimented eared surround with volutes on either side.
