Description
This barn, located approximately 40 meters east of High Cross Farmhouse, dates from the early 17th century and has undergone some later alterations. It features brick plinths and small timber framing, with brick infill in the lower panels and weatherboarding on the upper panels. The roof is covered with old plain tiles. The barn has four bays and includes double plank doors for cart access to the right of the center, as well as a plank door to the left of the center. The right side of the barn has 19th-century brick underbuilding beneath the gable framing. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to contain queen post trusses with braced tie beams in the right bays, while the left bay features a pair of upper crucks with a collar tie supporting a king strut. Additionally, the barn has wind-braced purlins.
