Description
Peacock Farmhouse, now a house, likely dates to the late 16th century, with additions made in the mid-20th century to the left and rear. The central range is of painted brick, while the ground floor of the right cross-wing is also of painted brick with prominent timber posts at the corners. The first floor of the right cross-wing features large timber framing with painted brick infill. The roof is of old plain tiles. A substantial stone internal stack is located at the rear right of the building and features diagonally set brick flues. The farmhouse is a single storey with an attic, and has a 3-window main range with 2-storey cross-wings on both sides. A 20th-century door is set within a 20th-century porch on the right side of the main range. The windows comprise 19th-century casements featuring lattice glazing bars, and two 20th-century raking dormers are situated centrally on the roof. The cross-wing to the right contains a queen post roof truss to its gable end. The interior has not been inspected, but it is believed to contain chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and large, open stone fireplaces.
