Description
This barn, located immediately northeast of Cross Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century and was extended in the late 18th or early 19th century. It features a timber frame and is weatherboarded with a plain tile roof. The original section has a wide, gabled cart entrance on the center of the farmyard side. Inside, the barn consists of three bays with a double-purlin roof and straight wind braces. The extension adds two bays with narrower scantling, featuring clasped single purlins and queen posts supporting the tie beams. A short stretch of 17th-century red brick wall connects the barn to the farmhouse.
