Description

The granary at Cross Farm, which now serves as stables, dates from the late 17th century. It features a timber frame with 17th-century red brick and early 20th-century mauve brick infill. The building has a plain tile gable end roof and stands two storeys high. The right-hand bay appears to have originally been a small lodging and retains original small window frames on both the ground and first floors, with the upper window showcasing two wooden diamond mullions. The left two bays are fitted with early 20th-century glazing bar windows and lattice ventilators. Inside, the granary retains its original floor beams. The road-facing elevation is weatherboarded. Adjoining the northeast side is a late 17th-century chequered red brick wall, which has a plinth and oversailing coping, serving as the rear wall to a small four-bay stable block from the 20th century, also weatherboarded and topped with a plain tile roof.
