HARPENDEN CROSS LANE (south east side) HARPENDEN Granary at Cross Farm, including stable block adjoining NE side.

Granary, now stables. Late C17. Timber frame with C17 red brick and early C20 mauve brick infill. Plain tile gable end roof. 2 storeys, the right-hand bay apparently built as a small lodging, and retaining original small window frames on ground and 1st floors. The upper window has 2 wood diamond mullions. Left 2 bays have early C20 glazing bar windows and lattice ventilators. Interior with original floor beams. Weatherboarded road elevation. Adjoining on NE is a late C17 chequered red brick wall with plinth and oversailing coping, the rear wall to a small C20 4-bay stable block, also weatherboarded and with plain tile roof.
