Description
No. 8 Warwick New Road is a villa built in the mid-19th century. It features reddish-brown brick with a painted stucco front facade, unpainted stucco stacks, and a Welsh slate roof.
The exterior includes four first-floor windows. The center window is slightly recessed, while the outer left and right sections have gabled fronts. There is a moulded first-floor band, with window styles including 6/6 sash, 4/4 sash with gothic glazing and margin-lights, and a pair of 6/6 sashes, all set in chamfered reveals with chamfered sills and hollow-moulded hoodmoulds that have end stops. The front gables feature blind openings with similar surrounds.
On the ground floor, there is a moulded plinth and a central recessed entrance that includes a part-glazed, 6-panel door within a doorcase that has pilaster strips and sidelights with stained glass. The overlight is adorned with decorative cast-iron glazing bars. To the sides of the entrance, there is a 6/6 sash window on the left and a pair of 6-pane French windows on the right, both with divided overlights and margin-lights, set in chamfered jambs and sills. The villa has tall end stacks on both sides, as well as rear and ridge stacks with cornices. The gables are decorated with bargeboards and a frieze on a low parapet at the center. The sides and rear mainly feature 6/6 sashes and an 8/8 staircase sash. The interior has not been inspected.
