Description

This gazebo, dating from the early 18th century, is located on a traffic island approximately 150 metres north-west of Alveston Manor Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon. It is constructed of red brick and features a fishscale slate ogival roof. The structure is a single-storey square with a moulded offset to the plinth and nook shafts, topped with a timber cornice and a finial on the roof. The entrance on the southeast side has a rubbed brick flat arch and a moulded frame, leading to a half-glazed door with a 9-pane overlight. The windows on the other sides also have rubbed brick flat arches and 18-pane sashes with moulded frames, one of which has horns. Inside, the gazebo retains early 18th-century panelling, a corner fireplace, and a cornice. Originally part of the garden of the Alveston Manor Hotel, it has been relocated to its current position due to road alterations.
