Description

This is a pair of tall street lamp standards designed by Elisabeth Scott, associated with her design for the new Royal Shakespeare Theatre, completed in 1932. Each standard features a cast iron stem topped with a domed metal hood that has a reflective underside. The circular stems have a series of offsets resembling an extended telescope. At the top of each stem is a circular plate that supports the lamps, above which is a faceted, domed metal canopy with a reflective inner surface that directs the light downwards.
