Description

The lamp standards on Great Stuart Street in Edinburgh were designed by E J MacRae in the early 20th century. These decorative wrought-iron lamp standards are located on a pedestrian island. Each standard features a triangular-shaped plinth with engaged Doric columns. The shaft is adorned with consoles, anthemion detailing, and panels that display a castle motif at the base. At the top, the hexagonal shaft is capped with a tapered decorative finial that holds a modern glass globe.
