Description
This is a gazebo located in the southeast corner of the garden south of 'The Orchards', dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of handmade brick painted white and features a stone slate roof. The gazebo has a square single-cell plan and consists of two unequal storeys, including a low basement. The entrance on the west side is a plain doorway, while the principal entrance on the north side is also a plain doorway, accessed by a flight of semicircular stone steps. The south side, which overlooks the River Aire, has a sashed window with glazing bars, and the east side features a blocked window of a similar shape. The structure is topped with a three-course eaves cornice that has a saw-toothed band, and it has a pyramidal roof with a small apex pedestal that once supported a finial or weathervane.
