Description
The stable block, now used as a garage, is located approximately 20 meters south of Moreton House in Moreton Morrell. It dates from the 18th century and is constructed of brick laid in Flemish bond, topped with a pyramidal old tile roof featuring a ball finial. The building has a square plan and is a single storey with a loft, comprising a three-bay range.
On the exterior, there is a brick sill band at the loft level and a top modillioned brick cornice with a pedimented gablet. The front features three blocked former round-headed entrances, each with brick impost bands and tympana. The loft has three openings with brick flat arches; two of these are blocked, and one has a shutter. The rebuilt gablet includes a round window.
The right side of the building has three round-headed openings with fanlights above a modern garage door, along with three blocked attic windows that also have brick flat arches. The gablet on this side features a round window. At the rear, there is a small addition with a gabled slate roof and an entrance that has a plank door. The interior has not been inspected.
