Description

Moreton House and Moreton House Cottage are a house dating to the 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The house is constructed of coursed squared limestone, with a brick wing, and has a steeply pitched machine tile roof, rendered brick ridge, and end stacks. It is arranged in an L-shape.

The front elevation has five windows and two storeys plus an attic. The central portion features a pediment with an entrance framed by Doric columns, a triglyph frieze, guttae, and a pediment over a half-glazed door. Ground floor windows include two-light small-paned casements flanking the entrance, a three-light horizontally sliding sash to the right end, and a two-storey 20th-century bay window to the left end. First floor windows include two horizontally sliding sashes flanking a six-over-six sash, all with timber architraves. There are three gabled roof dormers, one with a small-paned casement, and two with small-paned horizontally sliding sashes.

The right end features a 19th-century brick wing with a return entrance, architrave, scrolled brackets to a hood, a fanlight with radial glazing bars over a half-glazed panelled door, a two-light small-paned casement to the right, and a segmental-headed early 20th-century casement to the first floor. There is a 20th-century entrance to Moreton House Cottage on the front, along with a segmental-headed three-light casement to the first floor. A two-storey wing extends to the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
