Description
This is a mid-to-late 18th century cottage, originally comprised of several dwellings and now semi-detached. It is located on the south side of Ratley High Street. The cottage is constructed of regular coursed ironstone and has a 20th-century tile roof with brick end stacks. It has a 3-unit plan and a single storey with an attic. The front has a three-window arrangement. An entrance doorway features a six-panelled door with a thatched hood and steps leading up to it. A blocked doorway has been replaced by a window on the right-hand side. The ground floor windows are old three-light casements with horizontal glazing bars and stone lintels with flush keystones. The first-floor windows were originally positioned below the eaves, but now have late 20th-century half-dormers with casements. The interior includes panelled shutters. The building is included on the list for its group value and contribution to the wider architectural context.
