Description

Two headstones are located against the east wall of the Church of St. Peter Ad Vincula. They date from the late 17th century and are made of carved ironstone. The headstone on the left is from 1695 and features a simple design with an incised shield and the initials J.B. The headstone on the right is more elaborate, showcasing a finely carved winged head finial and intricate swag. It has a fielded panel with a moulded surround and fine lettering, supported by cable twist shafts. The inscription is dedicated to John Burrowes. These headstones are included for their group value.
