Description

Prescott House and the adjoining house are a pair of houses dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 18th century. They are constructed from coursed dressed lias limestone with ironstone dressings, topped with an old tile roof featuring coped gables and a renewed brick end stack and cross-axial stack. The buildings have a four-unit plan and stand two storeys plus an attic, with a six-window range.

On the exterior, the right end features quoins. The house on the left has an entrance with a chamfered ashlar opening that has a slight ogee to a three-centred head, leading to an early 18th-century six-fielded-panel door. The ground floor includes a Venetian window to the left, which has a sill, pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice above a 6/6 sash window under a tympanum with side lights. To the right, there is a window with a timber lintel above a three-light small-paned casement. The first floor has a two-light window flanked by three-light leaded casements.

The house on the right features an entrance with a doorcase that has panelled pilasters, a frieze, and a bracketed pediment above a five-panel door, two of which are glazed. The ground floor windows have flat arches over two-light small-paned casements, while smaller first-floor windows also have similar casements. The range includes five gabled roof dormers with pedimental gables and two-light casements, two on the left house and three on the right. The left end has a short attached stone wall. The interior has not been inspected.
