Description

The former cottage, now converted into a garden room, is located approximately 30 meters west of The Grange in Farnborough. This building dates from the mid-18th century, while the attached summerhouse was added around 1920. It is constructed from coursed squared ironstone rubble, with the summerhouse featuring a brick end wall. Both structures have straw thatched roofs, and there is a brick stack on the left end. Originally, the cottage had a two-unit plan and is now a single storey with an attic, presenting a one-window range. The central doorway is missing its door, and there are 19th-century casements with three lights to the left and two lights in the swept dormer above the entrance. To the right, there is a small old two-light casement. The windows throughout have single horizontal glazing bars and chamfered wood lintels. At the rear, two swept dormers contain two-light leaded casements. Inside, the space has been opened up into a single room with boarded walls. The attached summerhouse on the right is open-fronted, supported by two timber posts and features a central eyebrow segmental arch.
