Description

This is a group of 11 headstones located approximately 35 meters south of the west tower of the Church of St. George in Lower Brailes. The headstones date from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries and are made of limestone.

One headstone is dated 1661, while another has a partially legible inscription dedicated to the son of Marian Ward. A third headstone is dated December 1, 1661 and features scrolled shoulders. There are two plain 19th-century headstones.

Additionally, there are two back-to-back headstones, one adorned with a winged cherub and the other dated 1807. Another pair of headstones is back to back, with one dated 1668 and featuring scrolled shoulders, while the other has scrolled shoulders as well. The final pair of headstones is also back to back, with one dated 1697 and the other from 1661, which includes drapes, a cherub's head, and floral decoration.
