BURTON OASSETT MIDDLE STREET SP3952 (East side) Northend 14/24 Northend Methodist Church

GV II

Methodist chapel. Dated 1831; Sunday School room added 1900. Flemish bond red brick with brick dentil cornice; Sunday School of paler brick. Stone plinth. Concrete pantile roof; Sunday School has tile roof. Small rectangular plan. 2-window range. Gable to front. Central 4-panelled door and fanlight. 16-pane sashes above have round-arched openings with painted tympana. Brick arches with keystones. Gable has datestone inscribed Wesleyan Chapel. Right return side has large 3-light window with horizontal glazing bars. Rear has cross windows of c.1900 with horizontal glazing bar. Brick segmental arches. Sunday School projects on left. 4-panelled door with painted lintel in right return side. 2 round-arched iron windows with glazing bars. Interior: original gallery on cast iron columns has panelled front. Fittings of c.1900. Included for group value.
