Description

The Manor House is a manor house located in Burton Dassett, with a central range dating from the 16th century and a left wing added in 1664. There have been late 19th and 20th century alterations, including a right cross wing and an early to mid-20th century service wing. The building is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and features 20th century tile roofs with moulded coped gable parapets and moulded kneelers. The internal and ridge stacks are made of ashlar, while some stacks at the rear have 20th century brick shafts.

The house is a single-ended hall house that has been extended to form a complex T-plan, with cross wings, a rear wing, and a service wing to the left. It has two storeys and an attic, as well as a two-storey and basement central range and a two-storey right range, with a total of four windows across the front. The two-storey service wing has four windows. The recessed centre features a late 19th or early 20th century porch in the left angle, and the entrance on the right side has a moulded six-panelled door set in a chamfered surround, accessed by stone steps with a pierced balustrade.

The front has a single-light window and a moulded cornice with a parapet. The centre and left wing have double-chamfered stone mullioned windows, while there is a two-light basement window. The centre has a blocked doorway with a 19th or 20th century four-light mullioned and transomed window inserted into it. On the first floor, there are two-light and five-light windows. The left wing features a five-light window on the ground floor and four-light windows above. The right wing has 19th or 20th century four-light chamfered mullioned and transomed windows. The service wing includes a half-glazed door in the right corner and has two and five-light mullioned windows. The older end part, which may have originally been a separate building, has a stable door and a two-light leaded casement with painted wood lintels. The right return side has a two-window range with cross windows and large gabled half-dormers. The rear of the building is irregular. The interior has not been inspected.
