Description
Badger's Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse, possibly built in two phases. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble with a corrugated iron roof over what was originally thatch. The house has 19th-century brick ridge and end stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window front. It follows a three-unit through-passage plan. A 17th-century plank door with iron fittings and a plain wooden surround, and a wood lintel, is located to the centre right. A three-light mullioned window with flat splays, a hood mould, and label stops is to the right of the door. Above the door is a 19th-century three-light casement. Modern casements are located to the left of the ground and first floors. A four-light stone mullioned window and a two-light stone mullioned window, both with hood moulds and label stops, are on the right-hand end. Two further hood moulds are present on the rear elevation, where the openings have been altered to contain a 20th-century door and window. A blocked door opening is found to the centre left of the rear facade, with the original wood lintel remaining. Internally, there are two blocked open fireplaces, featuring chamfered bressumers with stepped and ogee stops. The roof has chamfered spine beams with broach and stepped stops. The house is said to retain original roof timbers.
