Description
Grange Farmhouse is a probable late 17th-century farmhouse, significantly altered in the late 18th century, with further additions and renovations occurring around the mid-20th century. It is timber-framed, now with a painted brick front facade, and has a gabled roof covered in plain tiles, some of which are replacements. The building follows a three-cell, lobby-entrance plan.
The exterior is one-and-a-half storeys high, with three dormers in the roof. The entrance is off-centre on the right side and features a plank door set within a 19th-century gabled porch. Three windows with three lights each, dated to the 20th century and set within elliptical arches, are present on the front elevation. A decorative modillion eaves band adorns the building. Three dormers with 20th-century windows are present in the roof. A chimney stack is located on the left end and ridge of the roof. A 20th-century glazed door is situated in the left gable end.
The interior of the central room contains an inglenook fireplace that has been converted, featuring early 20th-century cupboards and a range. A massive spine beam with end stops is also present. The room to the right also has an inglenook fireplace, originally with a bressumer beam, now infilled, along with a chamfered spine beam. A winder staircase is situated to the side of the chimney stack. The first floor retains fairly extensive exposed square panels of timber framing which partition the walls, along with exposed rough-hewn purlins.
