Description
This is a cottage located at 27 Farm Street, dating from the late 17th to 18th century. It is constructed from regularly coursed limestone with large irregular quoins. The left gable is timber framed with brick infill, and it has a corrugated iron roof with partly rebuilt brick end stacks. The cottage has a two-unit plan with an outshut at the rear, standing two storeys high with an attic and a two-window range.
A 20th-century part-glazed door has been inserted at the front facing the road, while the original entrance is located on the right return side, featuring a wide plank door within a simply-moulded wood frame. Above this entrance is an 18th or early 19th-century hood supported by shaped brackets. The windows include two and three-light casements with painted heavy wood lintels. A Britannia firemark is also present. On the left return side, there is a blocked ground floor window and a three-light casement on the first floor, along with a fixed light in the attic. The interior has not been inspected.
