Description
Edstone Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century, with later additions and alterations, including an 18th-century rebuilding of the front facade. The building features small square timber-framing on the returns and rear, with painted brick nogging, while the front facade is constructed in Flemish bond and topped with a plain-tile roof.
The exterior consists of a single storey with an attic and includes three dormer windows and a range at the rear. The central entrance is a plank door set in a moulded wood surround, which is sheltered by a gabled hood. The outer windows are 20th-century tripartite casements in wooden frames, and on either side of the door are 20th-century single-light casement windows, also in wood frames, which are topped by raised keystones that form part of a three-course band at the first floor. The gabled roof features attic dormers with tall casements that extend above the eaves, and the gables display timber-framing. There is a buttress on the ground floor to the left and projecting end stacks with cornices, one of which has been rebuilt. The interior has not been inspected.
