Description

The Stone House is a house dating from the 16th or 17th century, with additions from the 19th century. The front wing, which is timber-framed, is believed to have been relocated from Church Street in Stratford-upon-Avon around 1920 to 1930. The front wing features close-studded timber-framing with arched braces and painted plaster infill, set on a stone plinth. It is flanked by reddish-brown brick ranges, with the right side having a coursed limestone ground floor. The house has an irregular T-shaped plan and is mostly two storeys plus an attic.

On the exterior, the entrance to the left range has a 20th-century door in a wood frame. There is a fixed-light window to the left under an elliptical arch. The first floor of the left range has two 2-light wood casement windows under elliptical arches and a modillion eaves cornice. The timber-framed part projects to the front and features 2- and 4-light wood mullioned windows with lead cames and exterior hooks, including one gabled window on the left return to the attic. The right range has wood and metal casements in wood frames under elliptical arches, also with a modillion eaves cornice. The roofs are gabled, with end and ridge stacks that have cornices.

Inside, the front wing includes a double-chamfered, basket-arched fireplace with fluting on the sides. The history of the site can be traced back to 1660 when it was known as Hall End Yard.
