Description

Manor Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with a later single-storey cow shed added to the left end and right side. It is timber-framed with pinkish-brown brick infill, and has a plain-tile roof with brick stacks. The house originally consisted of two units.

The exterior is single-storey with an attic, and has a two-window front. The entrance to the left-hand extension has a 20th-century door within a moulded wooden surround. There's a canted bay window and 2- and 3-light wooden casement windows under cambered brick arches to the right. The attic has two half-dormers with raking roofs, each containing a 2-light wooden casement with leaded glass. The ground floor windows have glazing bars. The roof is steeply pitched, and there are tall end stacks with cornices; the stack on the right is particularly large and projects externally. Small square panels of timber framing are visible on the gable ends.

Inside, the rear wall to the right reveals small timber framing. There are exposed chamfered beams with ogee stops and rafters. The right-hand end of the house features an inglenook fireplace with a bressumer.
