Description

Old Manor House is a manor house that has been converted into a residence. It dates from the 16th century, with extensions added in the mid to late 17th century and the 20th century. The building features a timber frame and finely regular jointed coursed limestone rubble, topped with steeply pitched roofs made of red tile and stone slate. It has brick ridge and end stacks and is designed in an L-plan.

The earlier section of the house has a ground floor made of regular coursed limestone rubble, while the upper floor consists of close studded timber-frame and plaster. The windows are renewed wood, and there is a plank door with a wood door-frame. The 17th-century section to the right is two storeys high and has a four-window range. Between the 16th and 17th-century parts, there is a narrow section with 20th-century windows. The main part of the house has two units, with an additional unit on the right.

On the ground floor, there is a notable four-light stone-mullioned window with a king mullion, featuring a cavetto section and small opening lights. To the right, there is a three-light stone-mullioned window, also of cavetto section. The first floor has three three-light stone-mullioned windows, two of ovolo section and one of cavetto section. All the mullioned windows are adorned with hood moulds and label stops, and there is stone coping to the right. The later section of the house has a stone slate roof. The interior has not been inspected.
