Description
Halford Cottage is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of regularly coursed limestone rubble and features a steeply pitched red tile roof. The cottage has a buff coloured brick ridge stack set on a stone base. It follows a 3-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with a two-window range.
The entrance is off-centre to the left and includes a doorway with chamfered stone surrounds, a hood mould, and label stops. The wood door-frame holds a six-panelled door with two glazed panels. To the right of the entrance, there is a recess for a wrought-iron bootscraper. A five-light stone-mullioned window with a hood mould and label stop, featuring two opening lights, is located to the right of the entrance. On the first floor, there are two stone-mullioned windows: one with two lights and another with four lights, both having opening lights. The windows are fitted with wrought-iron casement fasteners, and the building has ironstone quoins. There are also 20th-century skylights present.
