Description

Halford House is an early 19th-century house on Queen’s Street. It is constructed of stuccoed stone with a brick stack on the left end and a rendered stack at the ridge. The roof is slate, with stone-coped gables. The house has a double-depth plan and extends over three storeys, with a three-window front. A prominent three-storey bay window dominates the centre, featuring a hipped slate roof and housing the entrance. The recessed doorway has panelled reveals and a moulded wood doorcase with decorated spandrels, leading to a six-panelled door. An ironwork balcony is supported by slender columns. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars and small panes, and each has a keyblock head. Flat bands run across the first and second floors. A moulded wood cornice tops the building, and rusticated quoins are present. The interior remains uninspected.
