Description
The Rugby Club, located at 35 North Street, is a mid-19th century clubhouse designed in a modified Neoclassical style. The building is constructed of stucco and features a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate, along with a cornice and parapet. It has a basement and two storeys, with a moulded band at the first floor level. The left central section has a canted bay and a series of sash windows arranged in a 1:3:3 pattern, with round-arched windows on the first floor. The main entrance is situated on the right and consists of a six-panel door topped with a fanlight, all set within a rusticated round arch that is flanked by Doric pilasters and an entablature. There is also a secondary arched entrance on the left side. Inside, the clubhouse features a fine colonnaded hall.
