Description

The Windmill Inn is an early to mid-19th century public house. The front is of painted brick with a canted corner facing Windmill Lane. It has a Welsh slate roof with a paired bracketed eaves cornice. The building is three storeys high on the left side, featuring a full-height wooden canted bay window with sash windows, moulded cornices, and glazing bars to the upper windows. A single-storey wing on the right, originally a coach house, has a central round carriageway arch flanked by blocked round window arches on the right and a similar pedestrian entrance arch on the left, all with keystones. The Windmill Inn contributes to the group value of buildings including No 20A and Nos 20 to 25 on Market Place.
