Description

Nos 15 and 15A on Market Place is a house and shop, now functioning solely as a shop, built around 1840 to 1850. It features Flemish bond red brick construction with a gabled slate roof and brick end stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall, with a four-window range that includes a rounded return to Chapel Street. The late 19th-century shop fronts have plate-glass windows and a bracketed moulded cornice. The first floor has 8-pane horned sash windows set in square-headed stucco architraves, while the second floor features similar sashes with keyed flat stone arches above. A moulded wood cornice adds to the architectural detail. The interior has been partially inspected.
