Description

No 42 on High Street is an early 19th-century building, likely built around the same time as the shop established in 1824. It features painted brickwork and a low-pitched roof behind a parapet. The building has three storeys and a rhomboid plan that faces three streets, with each front displaying a large shallow panel bordered by a frieze and quoin pilasters. The main front includes two triple light sash windows beneath stucco-faced lintels. The shop fronts, which were altered in the 19th century, are adorned with Doric pilasters and entablatures. This building is part of a group that includes No 30 and Nos 40 to 42.
