Description

Lloyds Bank is a bank building dated 1904, which was extended in the late 20th century. It is constructed of Portland stone and has slate roofs. The building is situated on a corner site with an entrance that leads into a banking hall occupying most of the ground floor. The north wing, which faces Regent Street, was extended later in the 20th century. The architectural style is Edwardian Baroque, featuring two storeys and an attic with asymmetrical elevations.

The tall ground floor is characterized by rusticated pilasters and a Gibbs surround to a round arch entrance located in the splayed corner. Above this entrance is an oriel window on the first floor, topped by an octagonal corner turret that features pairs of Tuscan columns alternating with round arch windows, culminating in a dome. The right-hand (south) elevation has three bays, while the left-hand (west) elevation has two bays; both end bays have elaborate Dutch gables with octagonal turrets. The west elevation includes a large oriel window on the first floor.

The first floor features stone cross-mullion transom windows with ornate pilasters between them, along with a modillion cornice, a parapet, and pilastered wooden dormers with pediments above. The aedicules at the top of the end gables have small carved panels depicting bee skeps. Additionally, the west wing displays a shield with the dates 1765 and 1904, and was extended on the left side in the later 20th century.
