Description

The stables and coach house, built around 1871 by Robert Scrivener, are located approximately 20 meters northeast of Dunwood Hall. The structure is made of random, picturesquely coursed hammer-dressed pink sandstone, accented with smooth yellow sandstone dressings, and features a Westmorland slate roof with verge parapets and a moulded eaves band.

The building has an 'L'-shaped plan on two levels that spans across the carriageway. The front is divided into two sections by a slightly projecting central gabled coach entrance, which includes a blind pointed arch at the apex above a label adorned with scrolls. The coach entry features a Tudor-arch design with panelled doors. To the left of the entrance, there is a single pointed arch window on the ground floor, while to the right, two trefoil-pattern panels are located under the eaves, above a scroll-finished label. Additionally, there are two pointed blind embrasures on the ground floor.

At the center of the roof, there is a columnated, octagonal cupola with moulded capitals that support the corbelled eaves, topped by a broached fleche covered in lead. A lower wing at the rear has an open front designed for carts.
