Description
The coach-house and stables, located 40 metres west of Newsham Hall, date from the early 19th century. They are constructed from dressed sandstone with raised quoins and feature Welsh slate roofs. The building is arranged in an L-plan, with a detached stable block at the rear. The coach-house has a prominent two-storey central bay flanked by single-storey bays on either side. It includes three 19th-century casement windows with wedge lintels and raised sills, and the central bay features a round window in a raised surround below the eaves. The central bay has a low pyramidal roof, while the flanking bays have hipped roofs. The rear of the building has a central segmental carriage arch. Attached to the left rear is a single-storey stable range with five bays, also featuring a central segmental carriage arch. The detached single-storey stable block at the rear has four irregular bays, two fixed 4-pane windows, and a 20th-century vehicle entrance to the right. This stable block is included for its group value with the main structure.
