Description
This milepost, dated 1879, is made of cast iron and stands approximately 800mm high. It is set on a circular shaft with a convex rectangular display at the top, which is divided down the center. The left side is inscribed with "LEEK/4/MILES," while the right side reads "NEWCASTLE/7 1/2 MILES/BURSLEM/5 1/2 MILES." The head of the milepost is finished with a fluted dome, and the base features the inscription "HALES/COBRIDGE/1879."
