Description

45 and 47 Stowe Street are two houses that likely date from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of timber-frame and brick, with No. 49 being stuccoed. They have a tile roof with brick stacks and are two storeys tall, featuring a four-window range.

The left half of the building has an entrance to the right of the center, which includes a 20th-century door and three-light casement windows. The first floor displays close studding with bracing. The right half features bracketed eaves and an entrance at the left end, which has a doorcase with offset buttresses, a frieze, and a brattished cornice. The door has panelled reveals and a pointed-panelled design with a nowy-headed lock plate. The windows have sills and label moulds, with three-light windows consisting of 2/4-pane sashes that have Tudor heads, while the window above the entrance has two lights. There is a stack located at the rear of the ridge.

The right return of the building shows visible timber framing above a 20th-century garage wing. The brick rear wing has a pebble-dash finish on the back with a weather-boarded gable, while the other wing features exposed timber framing along with a glazed lean-to and a stack on the side of the ridge. Inside No. 45, there is exposed framing and a large fireplace.
