Description

These are two houses located on St Andrew Street, Hertford, dating from the late 16th century and restored in the 1980s. The buildings are timber-framed and now covered with stucco, with an old tiled roof. They are arranged as a single-depth plan with four rooms and an outshut.

The exterior is single-storey with an attic. The ground floor features three two-light wooden windows with a horizontal division into three panes within each casement. A taller, eight-pane window is also present. There are two 20th-century oak doors, each with a small glazed upper panel and a flat hood supported by cut brackets. Two wide, gabled dormers are visible at the front, each containing a four-light, small-paned casement window. The rear roof slopes downwards over a catslide. A central yellow brick chimney stack is located on the ridge of the roof, and another sits to the extreme right (east) against the party wall with the adjacent property at number 56.

The interior was not inspected.
