Description

This is a 19th-century milepost located outside Lower Brook House in Marchington. It is made of hollow cast iron and has a triangular shape with a sloping top. The milepost is painted white and features raised black lettering. The inscriptions indicate directions and distances: to the left, it shows "UTTOXETER 3"; to the right, "MARCHINGTON 1" and "BURTON 11"; and on the top, it reads "MARCHINGTON." This milepost is part of a group of similar mileposts in Staffordshire, which enhances its significance and legibility, justifying its listing.
