Description
This is a house located at 1 Beacon Road, dating from the 17th century with alterations made in the late 19th century. The structure features a timber frame, which has been partly replaced and infilled with painted brickwork, and is topped with a reed thatch roof. It has a ridge stack positioned to the left of center and an end stack on the right. The building is single-storey with an attic and has a three-window front arranged in three tiers of square framing on a tall brick plinth, although the right-hand panel has been completely replaced. There are angle braces under the wall plate on the left side. The house includes three-light casement swept half-dormers that are evenly spaced. On the ground floor, there is a small bay window beneath a lean-to roof on the left, along with two two-light small-pane casements; the right-hand casement is located under the right-hand dormer, while the central window is offset two panels to the left of the entrance. The entrance features a pattern-tiled lean-to hood and a boarded door.
