Description
Nos. 7 and 8 Brookside is a house that has been divided into two units. It dates from the 18th century and has undergone alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick and features a tiled roof with end stacks. It is two stories high with an attic and has a two-window front. There is a cogged band at the first floor level, and gabled dormers with casement windows. The windows on the ground and first floors have segmental relieving arches, with glazing bar sashes on the right. A large six-pane window is located on the ground floor, while the upper left window has a scrolled swan neck in the arch above, possibly indicating a former Serlian style, and is now a 20th-century casement. Below, there is a similarly fenestrated bay window. The roof above the bay window has a segmental arch that matches the adjacent porch hood to the right. The central entrances are paired, with the left entrance being boarded in a Gothick style, and the right entrance featuring a six-panel door, both with segmental heads.
