Description

46, 48, and 50 Old Street are early 19th-century houses featuring a stone plinth and brick construction, topped with a Welsh slate roof and brick ridge and end stacks. The buildings rise three storeys and include cellars, presenting a five-window range. The windows consist of 6/6 sashes set beneath gauged brick flat arches, with a painted sillband. Above, there are 3/6 sashes, with the three central windows positioned under a stone pediment and parapet, while those on either side are also under gauged brick flat arches.

The entrances are identical, located in protruding bays, and feature part-glazed panelled doors set in deep recesses beneath stone moulded flat hoods and pediments supported by pilasters. The cellars have lights beneath cambered stone lintels. The left and centre windows have 8/8 sashes, while the right has an altered 10/10 sash, all under gauged brick cambered flat arches.

On the angled return to Brand Lane, there is a similar entrance with a 20th-century part-glazed door, along with blind openings under gauged brick cambered flat arches on the first and second floors. The rear facade is symmetrical, displaying 6/6 and 3/6 sashes, with some brickwork that is likely from the 20th century at the upper gable.
