Description

Masonic Hall. The building dates from the early 19th century, though incorporating earlier fabric. It is constructed of stucco with a plain tile roof, gabled to the left. To the left, there is a two-storey section featuring a single light window with an inward-opening, fanlight-glazed casement set within a moulded architrave that links to a pediment displaying Masonic emblems. The central section features a four-panel door with a plain overlight within a moulded case, topped by an ornate frieze and pediment supported by plain pilasters. This is flanked by two-over-two sash windows with pilaster architraves supporting moulded pediments. To the right is a section with two blind arcades flanked by blind niches, surmounted by a moulded band and corbelled gables. The ground floor is rusticated, topped by a moulded cornice. The right gable reveals a rubble core with a brick parapet above. The rear gable displays exposed timber-framing with brick infill and a large, Gothic-style glazed, round-headed window.
