Description

No. 40 Old Street is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick, featuring Welsh slate on the front and plain tiles on the rear, with brick stacks at either end. The building has three storeys and a cellar, with a two-window range that includes 8/8 sash windows set under segmental arches. The central entrance features a part-glazed panelled door within a doorcase that has pilasters, a frieze, and a moulded flat hood. To the left of the entrance, there is a cellar entrance with cellar flaps, marked with "C Hodges Ludlow Foundry 1877." Inside, the house includes spine beams and a stick baluster staircase.
