Description

SJ 2829 NE OSWESTRY C.P. OAKHURST ROAD (north-east side) 13/90 White Lion Inn - - II

House, now inn. Early C17 with later additions and alterations. Rendered brick concealing timber frame, slate roof. Hall range apparently of 2½ framed bays with gabled cross-wing to left; 2-bay range at right-angles to rear on right. One storey and attic; small C19 casement to gable and late C20 fixed-light windows to left and right of gabled wooden porch to hall range, 2 contemporary flat-roofed eaves dormers; prominent axial stone ridge stack, heightened in red brick, at junction of hall range with cross-wing. Interior: 2 chamfered cross beams and flat joists to hall range on ground floor and similar chamfered cross beam to rear range. Late C20 flat-roofed additions to rear and left are not of special architectural interest.
