Description
This barn, located approximately 15 meters southeast of Sodylt Old Hall, dates from the mid to late 17th century and has undergone later alterations. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a sandstone rubble plinth, with the gable facing the road clad in corrugated iron and a corrugated iron roof. The barn has a central threshing entrance with an eaves hatch to the right. Inside, the framing is visible, consisting of square panels with three sections from the cill to the wall-plate, supported by long straight tension braces at the bay divisions. The roof is a single-purlin design spanning three bays, with queen-strut end trusses and queen posts supporting the inner trusses, along with straight windbraces. The barn also contains a wooden threshing floor.
