Description
Sodylt Hall is a house dating from the mid-to-late 18th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of roughcast red brick, featuring alternating rusticated stone angle quoins, plain floor bands, and a moulded parapet. The roof is a double-span flat-pitched slate design with ramped stone coping and integral end stacks, two on the right and one on the left.
The front has three windows, with glazing bar sashes that have painted stone wedge lintels and projecting keystones on the first floor, while the second floor windows are reduced in size. The ground floor features tripartite glazing bar sashes with plain painted stone wedge lintels. The central entrance is marked by a mid-19th century flat-roofed porch with a round-headed outer arch, which was extended to the left in the 20th century. This porch leads to an 18th-century six-panel door, flanked by narrow 19th-century vertical sashes.
To the right, there is a two-storey flat-roofed projection that continues the floor bands and has a blind window with a projecting keystone on the first floor, along with two glazing bar sashes to the right above a single-storey bow that has three glazing bar sashes. There are also 19th-century additions at the rear of the building.
Inside, the hall features a late 18th-century staircase with stick balusters, and the right ground-floor room of the main range has 18th-century bevelled oak panelling.
