Description

ELLESMERE RURAL C.P. - SJ 34 SW 1/79 Sodylt Hall - 27.5.53 GV II House. Mid-to late C18 with later additions and. alterations. Roughcast red brick with alternating rusticated stone angle quoins, plain floor bands and moulded parapet. Double-span flat-pitched slate roof with ramped stone coping and integral end stacks, 2 to right and one to left. 3-window front; glazing bar sashes with painted stone wedge lintels and projecting keystones to first floor, reduced proportions to second floor. Ground floor has tripartite glazing bar sashes with plain painted stone wedge lintels. Central entrance; Mid-C19 flat-roofed porch with round-headed outer arch, extended to left in C20, over C18 six-panel door with narrow C19 vertical sashes to either side. 2-storey flat-roofed projection to right with continuation of floor bands has blind window with projecting keystone to lintel to front on first floor and 2 glazing bar sashes to right over single- storey bow with 3 glazing bar sashes. C19 additions to rear. Interior. Late C18 staircase with stick balusters in central hall and C18 bevelled oak panelling in right ground-floor room of main range.
