Description
The County Library (Ludlow Branch) is an early 19th-century library located on Old Street in Ludlow. It is constructed of painted brick and features a Welsh slate roof with a brick ridge stack. The building is two stories tall and has a cellar, with a four-window range. The façade includes three 8/8 sash windows set beneath grooved stucco lintels, which are recessed under a blind arcade formed by elliptical keyed gauged brick arches supported by brick pilasters. To the left, there is one 4/8 sash window beneath a stuccoed lintel, with a similar window above it.
The central entrance, which has been blocked, retains a moulded flat hood supported by consoles on fluted pilasters. This entrance is flanked by 6/6 sash windows under grooved stucco lintels. The window to the right features an early 19th-century shopfront with bow windows and a central part-glazed door with an overlight, all under a moulded fascia board.
