Description
This milestone, dating from the mid to late 18th century, is made of sandstone and features a curved head. Attached to it is a white cast iron plaque secured with two iron nails, which has raised edging and black-painted lettering. The inscription reads "TO/BEWDLEY/3 MILES".
This milestone is part of the Dog Lane District of the Bewdley Turnpike Trust, established under the First Act of 1753. It is a well-preserved example of a mid-18th century milestone, remaining in its original location and retaining its original cast iron plaque, making it an important indicator of historical road use.
